The traditional nativity play has been complemented by evil characters from fairy tales which rebel against their roles and help small Jesus. The action takes place on Christmas Eve in a library, where characters from books speak to the audience. The performance refers to the tradition of paper nativity scene. The performance includes classical Christmas carols and untypical pastorals arranged by Agnieszka Glińska. The performance can be complemented by a visit of Santa Claus.

Cast:

Teatr pod Orzełkiem is a group of professional puppeteers, graduates from the Białystok Department of Puppeteer Art of the Theatre Academy in Warsaw.
The theatre has been established by MARIUSZ ORZEŁEK and SŁAWA TARKOWSKA.

Mariusz Orzełek was, for a few years, a lecturer in the Theatre Academy, concentrating on object theatre and puppeteering techniques. He was a cofounder of the Białystok puppet theatres Klapa and CoNieco, performed in Poland and abroad (France, Russia, Finland, Serbia, Bosnia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, Romania, Moldavia, Slovakia and the Czech republic). He organises many theatre workshops for children, teenagers and adults. In 1995 he was awarded the title of Instructor of the Year, granted by the Theatre Culture Society.

When she finished her studies, Sława Tarkowska created a few performances for children, which she staged in many places in Poland. She performed also in Romania, Switzerland, Italy and Slovakia. She is an actress with a great sense for fine arts and manual skills. She is asked to take part in the scenographic works with many different theatre projects. She is a cofounder of the Teatr K3, with which she produces theatre for adults.
